The New Merlin™ Reverse Osmosis System

The new Merlin™ tankless reverse osmosis (RO) system by GE Osmonics should be available soon. As of this date we have yet to hear from them as to availability or even cost, but we are told that they will be here soon.

This revolutionary new design in reverse osmosis products promises to change the way we realize home water purification systems. It is capable of producing 1080 gallons of purified water per day without the need of a holding tank. Even though the Merlin is larger than any RO system we have ever seen, it still saves space over a regular RO with a holding tank.

The Merlin RO does not store any purified water greatly reducing the risk of bacterial infection in a holding tank. It treats a half gallon of water per minute as you draw it from your faucet and requires only 40psi of supply line pressure, pretty much eliminating the need for a booster pump in nearly all situations. And because the water is processed on the fly, the water comes out cool and refreshing, eliminating the need for a cooling device. No tank, no booster pump and no cooler plus 1080 gallons per day makes this system the next evolution in commercial and home water purification.

Tankless, 1/2 to 1 gallon per minute reverse osmosis water purifier.

The Merlin™ Reverse Osmosis system by GE Osmonics

80% of the reverse osmosis systems we install in our area get connected to a refrigerator/ice maker and require a tee in the product output line. The Merlin RO is already set up with 3 extra product water outputs. The system can handle up to 10 grains-per-gallons of hardness and 1.0ppm of chlorine, so most water systems would still require an ion exchange softener installed before using this system. The Merlin RO would be a perfect choice for aquarium owners as well.

This product should be available to us for online sale any day now. We do not have a specific cost list for this system as yet, but I'm told it will sell for around $900 to $1100, nearly 3 times as much as a generic reverse osmosis system, but most certainly worth the extra investment based on its output and flexibility alone.
