Tank
Jackets
Water
Value Company now provides the ability for the customer
to select a tank jacket for their water
softener or auto-backwashing
filter tank upon checkout. Many people have called in
the past requesting this option. Is a tank jacket for your
softener or filter system right for you? What benefit does
a tank jacket provide?
The
majority of the time, people desire tank jackets because
of aesthetic reasons; the media tanks just look better with
a smooth jacket around them. There are almond, blue and
white colored tank jackets available along with reflective
chrome tank jackets. If your water treatment system is going
to reside in a highly visible location then at tank jacket
might be a good choice. They cover the basic rough polyglass
texture of the media tank providing a smooth even surface
which is more pleasing to the eye.
But
tank jackets can also be practical. They provide a thin
layer of insulation to prevent condensation on the outside
of the tank which takes place during extreme temperature
changes. Many people in the southern part of the country
install their water treatment systems outdoors or in a roof
covered car port or shed. If these tanks are exposed to
sunlight at times along with cold water running through
them, condensation is bound to occur. The tank jacket usually
provides enough insulation under these cirumstances to prevent
excessive condensation.
Certain
tank jacket and brine tank combinations are more attractive
to the eye as well. The chrome jacket with a black brine
tank is popular and the white jacket with a black brine
tank is less expensive and looks just as good. But if your
water softener or backwashing filter is hidden in the basement
in a utility room with no great temperature variation, you
are probably better off without the extra expense of one
of these jackets.
