What Is A Turbulator?
A Turbulator is a highly modified riser (the tube that runs down the middle of the resin tank) that is specially designed to provide a much more agressive backwash for the water softener media resin. When the presence of moderate to high levels of iron are a factor, a Turbulator can aid in loosening the iron deposits that attach to the resin beads which are sometimes too difficult for the brine solution to remove alone.
The Turbulator is designed for water with moderately high iron content. While a water softener can help to reduce iron amounts of 3 mg/L or less, the Turbulator will aid in removing iron particles from your softener's resin beads.
