Water
Value has a full line of filters for removing chlorine, manganese,
iron, odor and much more. Auto-backwashing filters refresh (backwash)
themselves periodically to insure an optimum level of performance
and to prevent "channelling". Whole-house auto-backwashing
filters greatly enhance the performance of softener systems. If

Carbon
Filters:
Used
for removing chlorine and can remove any trace of salt produced
by your softener from your water. Activated carbon absorbs tastes
and ordors making your water taste cleaner and fresher. Carbon
filters should not be used on water that contains sulfur as it
will drastically shorten the life of the carbon.
Greensand
Iron Filters: These filters
remove iron oxidized iron from your water. They also remove manganese
and hydrogen sulfide which causes the "rotten egg" odor.
They use a small amount of potassium permanganate, which we supply
in quantity, or can be purchased at your local home-improvement
store, to refresh the filter media periodically. You should install
this filter before your softener system to greatly enhance it's
performance. These filters can remove up to 20ppm of ferrous iron
from your water.
Birm
Filters: Remove the iron from
water that does not have an odor to it. Birm filters refresh themselves
periodically with regular water. If your water does not have a
"rotten egg" smell to it, this is the iron filter to
use.
Calcite
Filters:
(Or
acid neutralizers). Used on low pH water to raise the pH level
thus lowering the acidic nature of your water. These filters use
inexpensive calcite as the filter media. While raising your pH
level, the calcite filter also increases your water's hardness
level. You should consider using a softener along with this neutralizer.
Terminator
Iron Filters: The
Terminator series of iron filters eliminate iron, sulphur and
turbidity using a combination filter ag, birm and air injection.
Less expensive and less messy than greensand filters yet very
effective.
