How
do I remove Iron from my water? There
are basically three different forms of iron in water:
Ferric Iron: It is
often called "red water iron" and the iron particles
are visible in the water. The iron particles in this case rust
when they are in contact with the water forming solid particles
and therefore, they can be mechanically filtered. This form of
iron can be treated with a Manganese Greensand
Iron Filter or with a Backwashing Birm
Filter.
Ferrous Iron: It
is often called "clear iron" because the iron particles
are not visible in the water. The iron particles will rust once
they oxydize (come into contact with air). This form of iron can
not be mechanically filtered from the water. It can be treated
by ion exchange using a water softener or a Manganese
Greensand Iron Filter. The form of iron removed with a Greensand
filter usually has a "rotten egg" odor to it.
Bacterial Iron: This
form of iron may not be visible in the water. However, you may
see a reddish slime build up where water is kept for extended
periods of time like a toilet or bathtub. As its name indicates,
this form of iron is made up of iron particles that have or have
had living bacteria growing on them. This form of iron may need
to be treated with chlorine before
a Manganese Greensand Iron Filter or a
Birm Media Backwash Filter is installed.
Can You Refer
A Local Fleck, Autotrol, Clack, Or Microline Dealer To Me?
Probably the most often asked question we get. We are not Fleck,
Autotrol, Clack or Microline, we simply distribute their fine
products. We are currently attempting to build a database network
of dealers throughout the US. Check our dealer
network page to see if we have a service local to you.
What
Size Water Treatment Equipment Do I Need?
The size of your home or the number of bathrooms does not determine
the size of water softener or autotmatic filter system that will
handle your needs. Determining the amount of water you use in
a given amount of time is the first step. Of course the next step
will be to find out how much of what you are trying to treat in
your water. In other words, if you are seeking to soften your
water, you will need to discover the amount of hardness in your
water. The final step is easy, simply visit our water
softener sizing chart.
For automatic filter
sizes, check the posted flow rates against your requirements.
Also, the amount of contaminant(s) in your water should be known
before choosing a size. If you know which type of contaminant
and how much, please contact
us for a recommendation or use our Auto-Filter
Flowrate Chart.
What Is The
"System Capacity" That My Fleck Water Softener Control
Valve Asks For? The
System Capacity is simply the amount of water that your water
softener can treat before it needs to regenerate. You can determine
this value by reading our Fleck
Water Softener Capacity Setup instructional page.
Who
Installs My New Water Conditioner?
It is probably best to have a locally licensed plumber or water
treatment professional put in your system. You can find a local
plumber by clicking
here, or you can visit our installation
page for a general example on plumbing your own water treatment
system. Many of our complete systems have a link to setup and
installation for that particular system on their detail page.
Also, checking your local phone directory under "Water Treatment"
will provide results.
What
Is The Difference Between A Timer System And A Metered System?
A timer system is less expensive and requires you to set a simple
timer to control how often the system "backwashes" or regenerates.
Because soft water is unavailable when backwashing for a few hours,
it is best to have this done when you are asleep or away. A meter
automatically keeps track of your usage and sets up a regeneration
sequence based on your usage. We design and provide metered systems
for softeners and timer systems for auto-backwashing filters.
It is unadvisable to meter a water filter system due to the very
real possibility of "water channeling" in the media
bed, rendering it ineffective.
Why
Should I Order From Water Value When I Can Get The Same System
From Lowe's For The Same Price?
First of all, we do not carry the same equipment that retail stores
do. Water Value.com sells industry standard Professional Grade
equipment at wholesale prices. The equipment sold at retail
outlets such as Home Depot and Sears does not measure up to an
Autotrol, Clack or Fleck system in our opinion, and we can back
that claim up here. Retail outlets are in the business of
selling products that consumers demand, and consumers demand the
lowest prices possible. Unfortunatley, this means the consumer
will get the lowest manufacturing quality available. These water
treatment systems do work, but for how long and how well? Rest
assured that the retail outlet companies will still maintain their
profit margins. Water Value is in the unique position of being
able to purchase directly from the manufacturers and our over-head
costs do not even approach those of retail outlets. We could purchase
the same low-cost equipment that the retailers do, but we feel
strongly that the customer's satisfaction is priority and quite
frankly, a lesser system does not measure up to our standards.
Is
It Safe To Order Online? Absolutely.
We utilize the PayPal
secure online purchasing system. PayPal accepts all major credit
cards and checks. The FDIC insures the "pass through"
transaction. You may also use our "FAX
Back" order form. Please do not send credit card
information via e-mail to us. E-mail is not secure.
I
Am Having Trouble Ordering Online. Can I Place My Order Over The
Phone? Yes,
but the online ordering method is much more secure and accurate.
The use of cell phones or cordless phones for the transmission
of financial information is unwise. Also, with the online ordering
method, nobody sees your financial information, not even Water
Value Co. While our online credit card processor is easy and secure,
sometimes people run into trouble. A common problem comes from
customers entering their credit card number with "-"
in between the numbers. There are some other minor snags that
can cause frustration and delay that are not so obvious. Read
this short, helpful article about your
secure online transaction first.
How
Long Will It Take To Receive My Equipment? In
the continental US, we use UPS Ground shipping or US Postal Service
for water testing kits and equipment. Once your order is placed
through PayPal, the factory outlet ships your order within 2 business
days if ordered before 11:00 AM Eastern time. We have factory
outlets in Norton, OH, and Phoenix, AZ and Tampa, FL. We will
order from the outlet nearest your shipping address. Most deliveries
take 3-6 business days. Check out our informative
shipping article with US maps on our web log.
No
in-stock orders will take longer than 7 days to arrive. Orders
for non-stock items may take up to 15 days to arrive.
No commercial systems may be shipped to California.
What
If I Need Help Setting Up My Water Treatment Equipment? Water
Value Company provides online setup instructions for each of its
products either in electronic document form or web page (often
times both) at the same web page location you purchase your equipment
from. When you place your order with us, PayPal will send a receipt
e-mail notice to you. Water Value Co. will send out a receipt
and confirmation e-mail to you as well to the e-mail address you
provide upon "checkout". Our confirmation e-mail will
contain all contact and support information such as technical
support e-mail addresses and our support phone number. Due to
the long warranties provided for our products, it is advisable
to keep this confirmation e-mail for the life of your equipment.
