Finding Treated Water Capacity For Your Water Softener
August 24, 2007 |
In keeping with our never ending task to educate our customers, we have published a quick and easy tutorial that will allow you to compute the water hardness capacity for your water softener. Most Fleck brand water softeners require this information in order to properly maintain a hardness free supply of water to your home. We get several phone calls from customers who have purchased Fleck controlled water softeners which utilize the SE (Simplified Electronics) control interface. The Service Manual that comes with each control valve is just that, a service manual. It is written with the water treatment professional in mind and does not cover basic water treatment theory. Because of this, we have published a very simple, straight forward method for finding the answer to this frequently asked question.
This information is useless if you do not know 3 things; the number of people using water in your home, the amount of hardness in your water in grains-per-gallon (GPG) and the size of your water softener. If you need to determine a size for your water softener, you can go here and find out. You will still need to know the number of people using water in your home and the amount of hardness in your water. If you do not know the amount of hardness in your water, use a water testing kit.
That’s all of the information you will need to get up and running smoothly. Remember, this information is not published on paper and shipped with your system. You will need to refer to these documents online. The manufacturers send plenty of paper manuals and setup sheets with their products. Our electronic publications are meant only to enhance theirs.
